Meet Our Team
Your Hosts – Lucy & Simon
We are an English couple who moved to Spain with our family 10 years ago.
For 6 years we have been involved in the renovation of our 17th century farmhouse, now our B&B. It has been an amazing journey and an enormous undertaking for us. In fact we still have to finish all the landscaping outside, something we aim to complete this year.
We have a full program of Special Interest and Activity Holidays for 2017, from learning Spanish to trail running and much more. This diverse range of holidays reflects our own interests and passions. We love what we do and take great care when planning the itineraries, choosing our guides and finding our specialist tutors.
It is the enthusiasm of our team that makes our holidays the ones you will remember.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special corner of the Spanish Pyrenees.
Our stay exceeded our expectations in every way.
Jesper & Rikke. Denmark June 2015.
What impressed me most was the personal touch of Simon and Lucy. Never before on my travels have I been so well looked after.

Alberto Marín López
We consider ourselves very lucky to have him as part of the Aragon Active team. He is extremely experienced, having been a mountain guide in the Aragon Pyrenees for the last 20 years.
Like us he is passionate about the area where we live, in fact, he specializes in educating groups on the flora and fauna of the Pyrenees, as well as the geology and the environment.
Among his many guiding qualifications he is an official Ordesa National Park guide, a geological guide and a mountain guide for the blind and visually impaired. He is also the founder and vice president of Aragon’s first nature and ornithological association, ATONPA. His enthusiasm for the area is infectious, he has a great sense of humour and speaks English.
Juan Manuel Crespo
Juan or Juanma as we call him, is a qualified mountain guide like Alberto. He too guides on our Guided Walking Holidays, Wildlife Walks and our Snowshoeing Holidays. He also guides certain days during our Special Interest Holidays.
Juanma likes a joke and always has a smile on his face, perfect company on any day.
He was born in Zaragoza and fell in love with the Pyrenees as a child. But he hasn't always been a mountain guide. He first qualified as a teacher, working in Canada. This provided the ideal springboard to become bilingual.
His heart has always been in the mountains, and this is now where he is based, here in Sobrabre. When not guiding he loves travel, and has been backpacking all over the world. Including North and South America, Europe and more recently Nepal.
Whether we were with Alberto, Lucy or Simon, there was always something to be learned about the flora, fauna, geology or history of the area.
Nick & Eileen. Preston . Guided Walking Holiday Oct 2015
Thanks for introducing me to such a beautiful part of Europe and your stunning house. Alberto is a real asset!

He has been coming to the Ordesa National Park for the last 25 years. As one of his favourite places, he knows where to find the best shoot locations.
Excellent teacher throughout the week, exuding passion for photography and conservation, and this came across in the way he helped us technically and with composition.

Yoga and Meditation Team
Julia Ventham – Meditation Facilitator
Julia leads our Yoga Meditation and Wellness Retreats. When meeting her for the first time you will be struck by her warmth, calmness, and positive aura.
She began meditating 13 years ago after a health crisis that enabled her to look at life from a different perspective. Initially joining a local meditation group in her town in the South East of England, she began to notice the profound effects meditation was having on not only her health but also her overall well-being.
Julia went on to deepen her Spiritual practice by doing a 3 year Diploma course at The School of Insight and Intuition in London, training in healing and energy work, as well as different meditation techniques.
She has run many group courses in the UK as well as offering healing and meditation tuition on an individual basis in both England and Spain.
Tej Partap Kaur (Tej) – Kundalini Yoga Teacher
Tej Partap Kaur (Tej) is a qualified teacher of Kundalini Yoga with 15 years experience.
Originally from Barcelona, she came to the Pyrenees 5 years ago to be closer to nature. She holds regular classes in Sobrabre (our region) for all ages and abilities. Whatever your level of yoga Tej will help you progress.
It is said that each type of yoga is like a side of a diamond but that Kundalini Yoga is the whole diamond, as it is a combination of all the other types put together. It uses sets of yogic postures and movements (asana) with meditative focus, breath work (pranayama), and chanting (mantra).
In addition to strengthening the health and well-being of the physical body, it is beneficial for emotional balance, mental clarity and stress relief.
Amanda Spring – Dietary Specialist
Amanda trained in nutritional medicine at the University of West London and colon hydrotherapy at the College of Herbs and Natural Healing in England.
She has been in practice for over ten years and currently works between her home in the Aragonese Pyrenees, Barcelona and London, as well as on detox retreats all over Europe.
During our week long retreat Amanda will present and hold a workshop on diet. For this reason it is most important that guests bring with them 5 days of completed food diaries so we can look at how diet affects mood, concentration, appetite and physical health.
Amanda helps people to make big changes to their health and well-being through small changes to their diet and lifestyle.
It is the perfect place to get in touch with nature, to leave behind the worries of every day life and to connect to yourself.
Mario. Turin Aug 2015.

Trail Running Guides
Running Addict – Jonathan Worswick
Jonathan is a running coach, now living in Australia, and he leads our Trail Running Holiday.
Jonathan’s addiction to trail running began in the early 1980s when he was introduced to Fell (Hill) Running in the Lake District of Northern England. Since then he has competed in a variety of endurance events over 3 continents.
His extensive experience, personal study into running and thirst for keeping up with new trends in the field have given him a solid grounding in the subject; how to train, what gear to choose, running techniques, nutrition and developing race strategies, all being tools of his trade. All these subjects are covered in Jonathan's blog.
He would love to share his passion and knowledge of mountain running with you while you also experience the stunning beauty of the mountains in the Sobrarbe region of the Pyrenees.
Some of the mountain running events he has competed in include; the Bob Graham round (UK), Hardrock 100m (Colorado, USA), UTMB 100m (European Alps), Commonwealth Trail Championships representing Australia (Wales, UK) gaining a bronze team medal, Buffalo Stampede Sky Race (Australian Alps), Ultra Trail Australia 100km, Ultra Trail Pirineu 110km (Pyrenees, Spain).

Mountain Guide – Guillem Sancho Torné
Guillem is a qualified mountain guide with 8 years experience.
Mad about running, he has designed running trails and guided on running camps. He is himself an ultra-trail champion, finishing 3rd in the 98km Aragon Ultra-Trail and 19th in the Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc 2013.
As a Spanish cross country ski champion, running is a fundamental part of his training programme.
He knows the best local trails as he lives and works here in the Aragon Pyrenees.
Simon and Lucy
Simon and Lucy love everything to do with the great outdoors, both have competed in the World Masters Mountain Running Championships, in the UK and Switzerland.
Lucy's background in sport and nutrition adds another dimension for runners on this holiday. She is an amateur mountain bike champion and completed the TransAlp race, the toughest mountain bike stage race across the Alps (570km, 19,708m ascent over 5days). A food scientist by profession, most recently as development group manager for Powerbar, she knows how nutrition and diet can help enhance athletic performance. She will bring this experience to some of the talks during the week.

He has a keen cultural interest, particularly in local traditions, history and music. In fact he has his own band, so be prepared for a tune or two to add to the authenticity of the Spanish classes!
Whether playing in his band, teaching or enjoying the mountains where he lives, he approaches it all with great enthusiasm.
