We are very lucky that we live all year round in a tiny farming hamlet in the central Spanish Pyrenees, close to the Ordesa National Park. A place where you can disconnect completely, unspoilt and still undiscovered.
There can be few better locations to host a Yoga Meditation Retreat Spain.
This first Retreat was a great success and we included a second week in July 2016. We will continue building on this success in 2017. Dates and details for 2017 can be seen on Yoga Meditation and Wellness Retreat.
As I write this post we have only 3 places left on our July Retreat 2017.
Our winning formula is based not only on our location but the fact we bring together a multi-disciplinary team, giving our guests every opportunity to achieve wellness (the dynamic process of change and growth, a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being).
Julia Ventham leads our Yoga Meditation Retreat Spain, she stays with us throughout the week, always on hand for support. In fact, it was Julia who inspired us to add the retreat to our repertoire of Special Interest Holidays.
We think Julia is an amazing person, always calm and positive, with a genuine warmth and exuberance for life. We met when she first arrived in the Pyrenees, having made an extraordinary journey by foot from England.

The five elements that make up our Yoga Meditation Retreat Spain are Meditation, Yoga, Excercise, Diet and a little Pampering.
Julia is our meditation facilitator. Julia discovered meditation after a health crisis 15 years ago and soon realised the positive effects meditation was having, not only on her health but also on her general well-being. Julia went on to deepen her Spiritual practice in London, training in healing, energy work, as well as different meditation techniques.
She has run many group courses in the UK as well as offering healing and meditation tuition on an individual basis in both England and Spain.
“Julia is such an inspiration in so many ways, leading the daily yoga and meditation sessions, sharing her knowledge of complimentary and holistic therapies for physical and mental well being, willingly offering guidance and advice, and simply listening.” Eryl – July 2016

Our Spanish yoga instructors all have very different personalities which means we keep the different weeks fresh, alternating between, Tej Partap Kaur and Carmen Cazcarra Brevers.
There were three yoga classes during each week, in addition to the daily yoga with Julia.
Our guests loved the fact these classes were held outside, within walking distance from the house. This added a different dimension and certainly inspired everyone.
“Carmen was our Kundalini Yoga instructor for the week, a very warm, gentle & beautiful lady, I had never experienced this type of yoga before but you really do feel energised & free afterwards.”
Lesley – July 2016
Our walks explored the area around the farmhouse as well as the National Park Of Ordesa. There was nothing too strenuous.
Living in one of the most beautiful and dramatic places in Europe meant that whatever the walk, we were surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
We included meditation on the walks. There was something truly special about meditating by a river, with only the sound of the water and the distant bells from the sheep.
Local Spanish guides joined us, Juan in April, and Alberto guided in July. They provided colourful local knowledge and brought the mountains and trails alive with stories and anecdotes.
Taking our shoes and socks off, and connecting with the earth, whilst we gazed at a geological wonder was unforgettable for may guests.
“The sense of wellbeing on this trip is magical, you seem to float the whole time. Surrounded by superb scenery from when you wake until you go to sleep.” Steve – July 2016
Diet and Health
Diet and health was an important element in the week long retreats.
We take great care in the preparation of the vegetarian meals and picnic lunches, all using our own organic produce, or locally sourced seasonal ingredients.
We introduced a raw food workshop which was great fun. This was lead by Julia and held in our catering kitchen from where we run our Cooking and Walking Holidays.
“The food was delicious, it was mainly vegetarian & who would of thought you could have such a variety of meals, all explained to us as they were served & presented like a 5* restaurant, the fresh produce was sourced locally although mostly from the allotment outside.” Steve – July 2016
Dietary specialist, Amanda Spring, was on hand. Guests found the one to one consultations with Amanda invaluable (this is an optional extra – see our Yoga Meditation and Wellness Retreat for details).
“I had a 1-2-1 Nutrition Consultation with Amanda who truly was an angel, she really listened to everything I said and she has set me on a path of enlightenment and healthy living, what a wonderful lady.” Lesley – July 2016
We recommend an alcohol free week but this an individual choice. For those who enjoy a glass of wine we serve wine from our local region, Somontano. In addition refreshments and infusions are available all day long at no extra charge.
A little pampering proved to be the icing on the cake – vegetarian of course (courgette and chocolate)!
As an optional extra local masseuse Christina came to the house to give a full body massage. Testament to her skills, guests chose to have more than one massage during the week.
We also visited the local Spa, a wonderful converted monastery only 20 minutes away.
I leave one of our guests to sum up our Yoga Meditation Retreat Spain, but don’t forget to join Julia on her series of posts, starting next week with “The importance of Meditation.”
“I personally went to this retreat feeling exhausted, in a low mood, anxious & many other emotions, when I left I felt exhilarated, high on life, free, happy, floating, calm and excited to take back home what I had learnt.” Lesley – July 2016
