The breathtaking Ordesa National Park

Land Of the Bearded Vulture
We have the highest concentration of Bearded Vultures in Europe. All thanks to the work of the FCQ Conservation Programme, whom we sponsor. We look forward to showing you this magnificent bird on our Small Group Holidays.

Culture & Gastronomy Holiday
Our 8-day experience on the culture and cooking week was probably the best travel experience I ever had. – tied with Galapagos! Lucy and Simon were incredible hosts who knew so much about the area and shared it enthusiastically with us. We hiked and visited so many sites, filling each day with new experiences! The countryside is beautiful and the ancient small villages and towns so photogenic. Most days, we hiked 5-6 miles. Each room had an ensuite and was tastefully decorated in the appropriate decor. The food…well the food was outstanding, from the homegrown veggies and fruits, to the homemade bread and sauces, to the wild boar stew, hunted by a neighbor, to the local foods such as wild mushrooms, collected by our hosts. Several days we took delicious sandwiches and snacks with us on the hikes.

Guided Walking Holiday
Trips are based in a beautifully restored farmhouse and the attention to detail in that restoration features in your active holidays arranged from that base. Beautiful hikes in stunning scenery with lots of information about geography, geology, ecology and human history.
Delicious food with a lot of ingredients from the garden or local sources accompanied by tasty wines from the Aragon region. And a brilliant open water pool for a dip at the end of a long walk.

Wildlife and Walking
The week in Aragon was far above my expectations. Simon and Lucy were very attentive hosts, knowledgable about the Pyrenees, the local history and wildlife, and incidentally, very good cooks, using produce from their own, organic gardens. The walks were guided by excellent local experts in wildlife, butterflies and insects, flowers and birds. I especially enjoyed the beautiful moths we caught in a trap overnight (and released the following day).. The group was very congenial and we had many lively discussions. Each day was a new adventure. I enjoyed the week immensely, and it was a wonderful escape to a spectacular environment.

I almost hesitate to write a glowing review—only because I’d like to keep this absolutely fantastic retreat a secret! For anyone looking to recharge, practice Spanish, hike, or simply take in the breathtaking mountain views, I couldn’t recommend Aragón Active more highly.
The wonderful family who runs it anticipates your every need and makes you feel completely at home—if your home were an immaculately restored stone farmhouse in the Pyrenees, serving beautifully curated, locally sourced meals with regional cheeses, wines, and foraged mushrooms…
My husband and I met a delightful group of kind, adventurous travelers, many of whom were returning guests. As a diplomat who has traveled widely, I can honestly say this was one of my favorite trips anywhere.
Thank you to our hosts, our Spanish teacher, and our local guides for an unforgettable experience!
