Our Snowshoeing Holiday Spain is the perfect tonic if you are looking to escape the grey days of winter.
We are based in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees, a perfect location to combine snowshoe walking in and around the National Park of Ordesa with some winter walking.
Snowshoe walking is a fantastic way to discover the real Pyrenees, in all their wild splendour.
By combining snowshoe walking with winter walking we have much more flexibility with the weather, enabling us to make the right activity choice on any particular day.
We are Simon and Lucy, your hosts for the week, and you will be staying at our beautiful renovated farmhouse.
The daily excursions are about enjoying this spectacular place where we live, there will be plenty of stops, time to take photos, look at nature or just marvel at the scenery that surrounds us.
It doesn’t matter if this is your first time snowshoeing, our local Expert Guide will be on hand to help, and we provide the snow shoes.
The group size is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Walking Holidays in Spain

Day 1
- Arrival at Casa Allué, Albella.
Day 2
- Snowshoe on the border with France. Panoramic views as we look at snow capped ancient volcanoes.
Day3
- Snowshoe in the Ordesa canyon, the “jewel” of the National Park, a winter wonderland, with frozen waterfalls.
Day4
- Snowshoe up to a frozen mountain lake, in a magical setting.
Day 5
- Rest day. Self-guided options or relax by the fire.
Day 6
- Snowshoe high above the Pineta valley, and see the southern most glacier in Europe.
Day 7
- Hike up to several 16th century chapels, all set into a cliff, and walk behind the waterfall of Santa Orosia.
Day 8
- Depart for Zaragoza and onward journeys home.

Snowshoeing Holiday Spain Reviews
I had signed up for the snow-shoeing week, and I was left satiated to my heart’s content at being able to hike in snow and get the most stunning views of the snowy peaks of the Spanish Pyrenees. Our wonderful hosts made sure to ensure we would avoid any bad weather spells (I think they are low-key magicians) by planning each day’s hike painstakingly. They even moved our rest day to the end of the week so as to ensure we had maximum fun in the snow.
The best part of the hikes wasn’t just the snow but our very knowledgeable guide who would whip out a whiteboard (I’m not joking) and explain to us the geography & geology of the areas we were hiking. I still don’t know how he managed to spot the camouflaged chamois across the valley with his naked eyes.

Really enjoyed a fabulous week in a small group, hiking different routes each day in the Aragon Region, using snow shoes or lightweight crampons or just boots. Each day was unique and our enthusiastic local guide was just a mine of information on the wildlife and geology. So too were our delightful hosts, they were also very welcoming to the lovely farmhouse they have renovated and produced superb meals all week.
Beautiful region, perfect winter weather, brilliant hosts and guide, would highly recommend.

Getting Here
We recommend to all guests that they make travel arrangements to Zaragoza.
There are direct flights into Zaragoza airport from London Stansted. Alternatively, Zaragoza has high-speed rail links from Barcelona and Madrid. Journey time from both cities is approximately 1½ hours.
From Zaragoza we offer a minibus taxi transfer service, collecting from the airport and the railway station to our Guest House in the Spanish Pyrenees. Transfer time is just under 2 hours. Cost €80 return per person.
