Self Catering in the Spanish Pyrenees, Torla.

Our cottage, Casa Petirrojo, nestles below the church, just 3 minutes down the steps from this charming medieval village. Historically a hillside barn, it has been converted into a beautiful stone cottage on 3 floors. It sleeps up to 4 comfortably and is equally suited to a family, or for 1 or 2 couples, each with the privacy of their own floor and bathroom.

A south facing sun terrace means alfresco dining from spring through to autumn.
For winter stays, we have an open log fire and central heating.

The house is reached from the steps that lead to the village. The Ordesa National Park visitor centre car park is a short walk away.

Three Floors & Two Bathrooms

The Layout

Middle Floor: Dining and seating area with 2 seater sofa, 2 armchairs and open fireplace. Open plan kitchen with dishwasher, under counter fridge/freezer, combination microwave with convection oven and grill, 2 ring ceramic hob plus induction plate.
Upper Floor: Double bedroom and second small bedroom. Bathroom with bath/shower, heated towel rail and WC.
Lower floor: One large bedroom with single bed and a quality double sofa bed. Bathroom with cubicle shower, heated towel rail, bidet and WC. Utility room with washing machine.
Outdoor Terrace: Chairs, tables, and parasol.

With all the comforts of home

We have all the comforts of home at our Self Catering Spanish Pyrenees Torla cottage.
A fully equiped kitchen, including combi microwave oven, toaster, kettle, French and Italian style cafetieres, teapot and cooking utensils.
An open fireplace adds to the ambiance, and we can provide wood and kindling. There is Wifi, a TV and selection of DVDs. We also have a walking guide that everyone can use.

We include towels and linen and the property is cleaned before and after your stay.
We also provide basic provisions such as olive oil, coffee, tea, sugar, w/up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen paper, cling film etc, all to get you started for the week.

For the benefit of everyone we are a strictly a non-smoking house.

Lucys house was the perfect base for our weeks stay. The kitchen is well equipped and having a washing machine is great. The little terrace is a great place to eat and have a glass of wine. It is vey close to the main car parking area and the buses that run to Ordesa National Park. 5 stars from us.

Lucy welcomed us with heaps of information about the house and the region. She also gave us some very good recommendations about where to hike and to have dinner. The house is amazingly organised and there is nothing missing. Torla is a small town up in the mountains and very well located for hikes. Valle de ordesa is only a few minutes by car and definitely worth a visit. I recommend Torla and Lucys house to everyone who loves the mountains and a well prepared and cosy home to stay at.

If you are looking for a comfortable, clean and well equipped house very close to the Ordesa National Park, Casa Petirrojo is ideal. It is as it seems in the photos. My husband and I went with our two children (6 and 8 years old) and it fit perfectly with our needs. The beds were comfortable, the house was well heated thanks to the heating and fireplace (we had been provided with firewood), and the kitchen had everything we needed. But what gives it a special plus is its owner. Lucy helped us very much with everything: very well explained directions to get there, a lot of guides and maps and tips to explore and enjoy the area and the town to the fullest .........

Right from the start Lucy and Simon's response time was quick, so we had no worries there. The directions they gave us from the airport to the property was easy to follow. Lucy was there to meet us with a welcoming bottle of wine and a lovely bowl off fruit and showed us around the property. .. Overall we can see why Lucy and Simon fell in love with this place, we have toured all over Spain and this is the first time in the Pyrenees, and like they say we have saved the best to last. We will definitely be back. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely property.

A great house situated in the village center close to a supermarket, restaurants and the mountain guide office. The best with the location is of course living five minutes by car from the Cañon de Ordesa... ???? The house had a very nice standard with cosy spaces. Kitchen and bathroom in perfect condition. The service was wonderful, when we arrived the beds were made, towels and paper was in the bathroom, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and do the dishes, including coffee tea, etc. We'll go back soon! ????

TORLA

Torla itself is a beautiful medieval village, narrow streets wind up the hillside with fine examples of Aragonese architecture. There are a number of excellent restaurants as well as two small supermarkets, adventure companies, tourist information with free WiFi, 2 banks, doctors, chemist, local butcher and a number bars.
Torla is known as the gateway to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido.

Our self-catering Spanish Pyrenees Torla cottage is in the perfect position, only 5 minutes up the steps to the village, and yet far enough away to be private.

ORDESA

On our very doorstop is the main entrance to the spectacular National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. The park Visitors Centre is just 150m away from the cottage. From here, in peak season, and other certain times of year, you can catch the shuttle bus into the Ordesa valley. See our blog post, Ordesa National Park Shuttle Bus for bus times. Outside these times, the park can be reached by car (8km).

Established in 1918 it covers over156 km² with beautiful trails and dramatic walks. The Pradera is the starting point for most of the walks. Classified as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and a Special Protection Area for birds it cannot be missed!

ACTIVITIES

There is so much to see and do in and around Torla that we have guests who return year after year to our Self-Catering Spanish Pyrenees Torla cottage.

At the very least you should take the 4×4 Ordesa Trip. This four-hour trip will take you to see spectacular and unforgettable views of the Ordesa Valley. Reservations must be made in advance.

For the more adventurous try Via Ferrata close by in Broto, with Aventuras Pirenaicas. There is also canyoning or white water rafting. Any one of the adventure companies in Torla can organise these for you.
